dacans_pride_01Melvin T. Baldrias, IV-SSC of Dacanlao G. Agoncillo NHS, Calaca, Batangas won first place in the 6th Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge Regional Elimination Rounds held at SM Lipa City on October 15, 2011 with Dr. Simon Chua, President of Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Philippines, Mrs. Elizabeth R. Tolentino, mathematics department head-coach, coordinator of SM Lipa and Philippine Star, Melvin will compete in the national finals on January 28, 2012 at SM North Edsa, Manila.

MTG with the cooperation of SM City and Philippine Star conducted the 6th Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge Regional Elimination Rounds nation wide simoultaneously. It was open to all public and private schools who can submit the original cut outs of the puzzles published in the Philippine Star from September 1 to October 31, 2011 with DepEd advisory. dacans_pride_02Melvin is a consistent champion in Provincial Meet and ranked 2nd place in team sudoku during 2011 Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletics Association. Upon knowing the DepEd advisory, the coach started to buy Philippine Star but unfortunately due to the delayed of the memorandum, wasn’t able to submit the puzzles completely. But thanks to the staff of Saint Raphael Parochial Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Municipality of Calaca thru the leadership and never ending support of Mayor Nas C. Ona and Sangguniang Bayan. Mabuhay ang Calaca!!!

dacans_pride_03Dacanhigh also bagged awards in the 2011 Metro Bank MTAP DepEd Math Challenge regional and division finals competition. Third year level , John Paul Vertucio and Jerico Sebolino won first place in the regional finals while Judy Ann Rubante and Carl William Balangawan got Division champion for the second year level. Angelica Endozo, Camille Sacdalan and Ma. Veronica Joyce R. Tolentino also topped in the Division Elimination Rounds Champion for the first year level, and Jeanette Pioy, Jeanfel Tumbaga and Jeanina Castillo from the fourth year level ended as 2nd place in the Division Elimination Rounds.
